EXPLANATION OF NON AWARD COURSES

BACKS MASTER CLASS:

  • A coach education event which is for coaches to observe top Leicester Tigers players working with a group of selected players on specific backs skills such as the scrum half pass & tactical kicking.

FORWARDS MASTER CLASS:

  • A coach education event which is for coaches to observe top Leicester Tigers players working with a group of selected players on specific forwards skills such as contact and lineout skills.

SCRUM 5:

  • There are a lack of Front Five Forwards coming through at the higher level at age groups u13-u17s therefore we will be delivering a ‘Core Skills Coach Education Programme’ to players and coaches of those age groups. The programme has been endorsed and supported by Leicester Tigers Academy Staff and tutors will be experts in Front Five Play and what core skills are needed to excel in these crucial positions. Venues are yet TBC but clubs grouped together are as follows:

Scrum 5 Wed 27th August: Market Bos, Syston, Lboro, Ashby, Coalville & Hinckley

GET INTO COACHING:

  • This course will be for novice coaches who are just starting out on the coaching ladder – the IRB Rugby Ready course and RFU START course will be delivered. It will be a certificated course and candidates will receive a Rugby Ready booklet and START rugby pack.

BEYOND LEVEL 1:

  • As the name suggests this course is for coaches who are aspiring to move from Level 1 to Level 2 – however it is open to any coach of any level. The topics are as follows:

Sunday 19th October 08:   Continuity Skills, attack & defence
Sunday 15th March 09:     Lineout, coaching process & games sense

ADVANCED COACHES COURSE:

  • This is for coaches who are currently Level 2 and are aspiring to move from Level 2 to Level 3 – coaches will be introduced to some of the theoretical and practical elements of the Level 3 course and given action plans to get them to the appropriate standard.
