A warm welcome to players and parents old and new to what we hope will be a fantastic season for the U8s.
The U8s is open to children under the age of 8 as of midnight 31st August 2018. This will be going into Year 3 for the 2019/2020 school year.
As a club we have taken the Quilter Kids First pledge to put children first and commit to a range of high quality standards. This is England Rugby’s approach to rugby for 6-13 year olds, which gives children the opportunity to prosper by fostering an environment for having fun, learning and building confidence.
Our environment will support children develop and learn the game at their own pace, and ensure they have plenty of fun while playing. Putting children at the heart of everything we do and all the decisions we make.
Our clubs coaching philosophy below is based on this
• Encourage fun on the pitch, through equal opportunity and realistic expectations of our children.
• Build the skills of our adults to provide a safe, healthy, respectful and enjoyable environment for kids.
• Develop children’s confidence and character as players and people.
• Champion rugby’s Core Values: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship
• Positive role models, inspiring a lifelong bond between children, adults and our sport.
We believe success is measured, not from how many trophies or games we win, but by how much each and every player improves and enjoys the game. Our approach is to give all our players’ equal game time and training development as much as possible.
It's important for parents to realise that rugby is a late specialist sport therefore at this age we apply a generalist approach to training kids in the sport.
We will focus on:
• more Fun
• Physical Development - Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed
• Tactical Skills - Use of Space, Running Forward, Support and Continuity
• Technical Skills - Evasion, Ball Handling and Passing, 1v1 situations

The 2019/20 season will start Sunday September 1st 2019 at Hinckley Rugby Club from 10:30 – 101:30am. Training will continue each Sunday from 10:30am-11:30am unless there is a fixture.
The website is the main communication channel for the club so we ask for all parents to please register to receive regular club updates.
If you are interested in joining our great group of players, please contact head coach Tom in advance on 07793 809363, or email our managers Mark & Stacey on HinckleyRFC2011email@example.com with your child’s name, age, school year and the next training session you can attend. We can then ensure we are training and we can introduce your child to the coaches show them around and meet you on arrival at the club.
Whether your child joins in the session, or just comes along to spectate, it will be good to see you at the club.
If watching your child and not taking part is frustrating, each age group has a demand for many helpers whether on or off the pitch. The club will fund any training and provide DBS checks for any parent wishing to follow their child through the age groups.
Clothing; please wear boots or trainers too if the ground is really dry, sports shirt and shorts, and bring a sports bottle full of water. A gum shield is NOT mandatory for U8s. Further clothing advice will be provided in season.
