Young Hornets tame a hungry wolf pack.
Hinckley Colts welcomed Wolverhampton Colts to Leicester Road in round 2 of the National U18 Cup.
The first 15 mins of the match was littered with errors from both sides and after a period of pressure from the visitors it was the home side who put points on the board first after some good work from Nixon who ripped the ball excellently in a tackle, the next phase of play resulting in a penalty and 3pts for the home side from the boot of Smith. The visitors then scored twice both through their No 12 who danced his way through a poor Hinckley defence both converted to go in at half time 3pts to 14pts to the good.
The Wolves started the second half where they left the first with their No 12 receiving the ball in midfield to then chase down his own kick for a great solo score and a 21-3 lead with only 1 minute gone. Hinckley made a number of changes at half time allowing players to go back to their usual positions, these changes had a huge impact on the rest of the game as Reilly crossed and converted on 40 mins, scorer then became provider as he looped a long pass to Nixon out wide who crossed on 45mins, a penalty on 47mins from the boot of Reilly and the home side were back in the game 18-21. Much better kicking from Hinckley and nothing going right for the Wolves star man who struggled in the second half as the home side put him under a lot more pressure along with excellent carries from Bennett and Reynolds helped the home side cross again on 52mins through Puffett, Reilly converts and the home side are back in the lead 25-21. Further scores from Cavanagh and and Reilly both successfully converted by the later rounded off an excellent second half come back to win the match 39-21.
