The Hinckley legends had to call on a few of our colt friends too step up and do a job on top of the table Syston, which they all did and I thank them for that.... With only a few of the regular 2's out and 5 colts in the Frey I was doubtful that we would come away with the win . But after a brilliant warm up with high focus and good intensity my mood was changing , right from the ko we looked stronger than the Syston 15 , and this was helped when centre Hastie went over through a superb move , in the first few mins, Smalley converted. Syston stepped up then but Hinckley's defence was awesome, great work from joint MOM's Kit Horwood and Big Robbo kept them out , another try from Hastie , converted was just what we needed. Syston got 2 penaltys in the first half , Hincks did get a penalty just before the end of the first half which put us on the up for the second half. Syston put up a good second half start but with some tactical changes in the backs , bringing on world of wisdom and pace Bott ,at fullback to command Hinckley looked on form to finish victorious, great defence and attack came and a well deserved try from Kit Horwood in the last few mins and a kicked penalty meant we were through to the Final . The only thing to let us down a little bit was the sin binning (Hastie) and loosing the man mountain Stratford through a scratch too the head which put him off the field for ten minuites .we did give away far to many penalties 10 in the second half ,thanks Vix, and this resulted in them getting another 2 penalties putting the final score at 25-12 to Hinckley a well deseved victory and there are a few players old and new who stepped up for the legends and made a great impression on me and the club.
