The Prima Cup is a festival for under 10’s which is run by Leicester Tigers, it spans the Tigers Academy region and beyond. The initial stages involved 5 separate festivals with over 70 teams taking part. At this event Hinckley qualified for the Shield Competition. The final stages were competed for at Welford Road, home to Leicester Tigers. Hinckley faced some very tough opposition, but great teamwork and a very strong defence put them into the final against local team, Leicester Forest. Knowing what a strong side Leicester Forest are, Hinckley knew they had to work hard if they wanted to lift the trophy. The first half got off to a great start with quick hands getting the ball out wide to Marston for the first try of the day. Hinckley defended well causing mistakes by the Leicester Forest team this allowed Handford through for Hinckley’s second try. In the second half Leicester Forest came out fighting but they could not break the strong Hinckley defence and Walton sealed the victory with a third and final try. Final score Hinckley 3 Leicester Forest 0.
