Fantastic performance by U9s in County Cup

A foggy morning and a heavy going pitch weren't the warmest of welcomes for the Hinckley U9's on the day of the County Cup qualifiers. There was however nothing welcoming about Hinckleys play as the opening match saw them facing up to a strong Market Harborough team. In what was a closely fought match where strong tackling and driving was at the heart of the game Hinckleys defence was impenetrable. As hard as Harborough drove and attacked hinckley gave them no quarter. On attack Hinckley continually pressurised and eventually saw reward for their efforts as the team drove forward with Smiths outstanding try being the difference between the two teams. A hard fought but well earned 5-0 win to Hinckley was the start to the day they needed.

The second match saw Hinckley continue with the hard and relentless approach, with great tries for Innam and Hubbard securing a healthy 10 point lead at half time. The second half saw Leicester Forest pull a try back but a near instance response from Hinckley saw that man Inman take his second try of the match to secure the 15 - 5 win.

Going into the final match Hinckley only needed a draw to see them through to the County Cup finals. A draw however couldn't be further from their minds as the opening half saw fantastic tries for Johnson, Hubbard and Sansome coupled with the same strong tackling and forceful driving. The second half saw Blake score a further try take the match 20-0.

Winning all of their three games saw Hinckley top the table and progress to the upcoming County Cup finals a well deserved reward for an outstanding performance against great opposition. Well done.
