24 year old begins with a friendly against Burton

Alex Salt has been appointed as 1st XV captain for the 15/16 season by Director of Rugby Paul Walsh.

Salt, who converted to number 8 last season following a number of years appearing in the second row was the 1st XV top try scorer last season with 18 including a run of 13 in 8 games in the spring, and has stood in as captain on two previous occasions against Longton in 13/14 and Burton in 14/15. The 24 year old came through the club's youth system and apart from a short period living in France as been at Hinckley throughout his career to date.

Salt said of his appointment; 'its a great honour to be made captain and its made easier by having such a good group of players. I'm hoping we can build on last years success and gain promotion this season'.

Head Coach Chris Campbell said: 'Alex is a fantastic leader and I am excited to work alongside him in the coming season. He has shown some inspirational leadership qualities in recent years and being a player who leads from the front as well, I am confident he will continue to develop and take the team even further forward this season'

Salt's first fixture as captain will be a friendly against Burton on the 15th August, with the first league game at home to Scunthorpe on the 5th September.

Pre-season for the 1st XV squad begins a week on Thursday (2nd July)
