Hinckley RFC captain Alex Salt sets his stall out for the season.

After last season’s elevated efforts where Hinckley RFC achieved its highest ever league position (5th in National League 2 North), Captain Alex Salt is demanding even greater intensity, from his players and the club, as they aim for promotion into National League 1.

Salt stated, “Accepting second best is no longer acceptable. We know what it takes to win this league and we need to make sure we are delivering on that knowledge both in the games and throughout the week in training.”

“We have recruited well and we need to push on! Obviously the margins are fine and other teams will no doubt have prepared well which is out of our control. What is under our control however, is the environment we are building at Leicester Road under the guidance of our fantastic coaching team, along with a never say die attitude and a commitment to never leave anything in the changing rooms or on the field, whether during training or in the game. These behaviours are something we are looking for across the whole club from juniors to senior squad.”

“Off the field, the leadership team have again been making strides to increase the awareness of what we are trying to achieve, including bringing a Head of Community on board. Pre-match lunch bookings are up on this time last year, as are the sale of season tickets. We seriously want to get as many people down to watch as possible. It helps the team and the club grow, its good for the people in the area to something to be proud of and it gives us a greater sense of what we are trying to achieve. Plus the standard of rugby is very good to watch.”

Hinckley kick off their pre-season at home against National 1 new boys Cinderford on Saturday, followed by National 1 Loughborough Students away the following Saturday and finally National 2 South Canterbury at home on 25th August before the season’s opener against fellow promotion chasers Tynedale on 1st Sept 2018 at Leicester Rd.

Big Match Lunches are still available for all games and season tickets are now available. For details please email:
