Head of Community Department for Hinckley Rugby Club

Formed in 2005, Sports In Schools Ltd has built up a reputable reputation for working in schools on behalf of our clients delivering sports coaching and sports projects. This direct work has culminated in the running and overseeing of full community departments for sporting organisations. We are delighted to be working with Hinckley Rugby Club. An ambitious rugby club both on and off the field. Initially a 12 month contract, however on being successful the candidate can be expected to secure longer term contracts in the future.

POSITION:
Head of Community Department for Hinckley Rugby Club
Location: Hinckley Rugby Club, Leicester Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 3DR
Job type: Full Time Contract 40 hours per week.
Start date: 1st August 2018* – 31st July 2019 with options to continue thereafter.
*This date could be later depending on current employers notice period.
Salary: Competitive. Please ask in your covering letter and state current salary.

ROLE:
The Head of Community will develop and oversee a successful community department and deliver high quality sports provision to schools and for organisations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Gain and develop a wide range of sports coaching contracts with schools and organisations.
b) Ensure and maintain high standards of coaching delivery across all programmes.
c) Work closely with local organisations and NGB’s with Rugby Union projects.
d) Ensuring the Community Department adheres to the current positive brand of Hinckley Rugby Club.
e) Monitoring and evaluating the coaching with continued upskilling of coaches.
f) Produce P&L each month detailing all coaching/appearances that has taken place in the community.
g) Oversee all children match day entertainment and engagement.
h) Oversee the social media presence.
i) Organise periodically outside visits to organisations.
j) Produce a monthly newsletter detailing all activities ongoing or planned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Minimum RFU level 2.
b) A recognised First Aid Qualification.
c) Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current Safeguarding Children certificate. RFU ‘Play it Safe’ & ‘In Touch’ safeguarding courses are desirable.
d) An accepted Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure.
e) Experience of coaching young players.
f) An appreciation and experience of mentoring and developing other coaches.
g) Understanding of the National Curriculum and current teaching/coaching policies.
h) Willingness to work weekends when required.
