Hinckley Under 12's first home game of the season saw the visit of Lichfield RFC.
Hinckley RFC Under 12's welcomed the visit of Lichfield RFC with a squad of just 13 players, and with the Visitors travelling with a large squad a tough morning's Rugby was on the cards, this proved to be the case after a tough first half which the visitors dominated especially at the breakdown, this largely due to a number of player's playing out of position, noticeably in the forward pack, and with the home side not coping well in the slippery conditions gifted the visitors two easy scores, despite this Hinckley battled hard to finish the first half just two scores behind. Hinckley 5pts Lichfield 15pts. Dalby scoring for Hinckley.
After a breather at half time Hinckley regrouped and came out for the second half a different team, the forward pack working more as a team, along with excellent rucking from phipps,Crowfoot and Lockett gradually ground down the large Lichfield front row, this set the platform for the backs to finally show what they do best, running in tries, first from Sharkey swiftly followed by Webb to level the match, Hinckley continued to pile on the pressure forcing their opponents over the try line for Johnson to rip the ball and put it down to lead for the first time in the match. Excellent defence from Sharkey,Webb,Lockett and man of the match Dalby kept the visitors away from the try line who only managed a single score to end a great match. Hinckley 20pts Lichfield 20pts. Credit to the whole Hinckley squad who soldiered on despite a number of players visibly in pain, but refused to give in and fight until the end.
