Oadby Wyggs Overcome by Hungry Hinckley

Match 1

Hinckley started slowly with Oadby Wyggs having the majority of the play and possession; Hinckley’s tackle count keeping them in the game as Oadby couldn’t penetrate their defence. Two quick try’s from Hinckley (Whittingham. A & Drakeford) against the run of play gave the Hinckley team a much needed confidence boost. Oadby Wyggs scored just on half time after charging down a Hinckley kick.
Second half possession was equal with both teams tackling well and neither managing to cross the try line. Oadby Wyggs equalised with a quick tap penalty which caught Hinckley napping. Hinckley replied by winning a scrum against the head and moving the ball along the line with full back Whittingham. A joining at the end to score in the corner. Hinckley continued to keep the pressure on, winning numerous scrums against the head. Oadby Wyggs managed a late equaliser with the last play of the game. Final score 3-3.

Match 2

A change of ref for the second game resulted in the penalty count being more equal, and Hinckley began to dominate the game. Salisbury scoring first with the whole team being involved, Guest denied a try as it was held up on the line and Goodwin powered over for his first of the season. Hinckley 2-1 up at half time.
Hinckley carried on in the second half dominating at the break down and winning scrums on both teams put-ins. Hinckley’s line speed, discipline and tackled count kept Oady Wyggs at bay for the whole second half, Goodwin driving over to score and securing a well-earned win. Final score 3-1 to Hinckley.

Coaches Man of the Match was shared between Fenlon and Goodwin.
