Hinckley Under 12’s split their large squad in half to play a tri-tournament with visiting side Melton Mowbray.

Hinckley split themselves in two, Hinckley Yellow and Hinckley Grey to play 3 well contested games of rugby on a cold and rainy Sunday morning.
First up was Hinckley Grey versus Melton. Hinckley was always in control putting constant pressure on the visitors. Two first half try’s from Moore following good all round team work, and an excellent tackle count meant Hinckley went into the break 2-0 up.
Hinckley increased their lead by Burton early in the second half after constant pressure by the whole team. Melton then scored a late consolation try due to a couple of missed tackles. Hinckley 3 Melton 1.

Second and by far the best game of the day was Hinckley Yellow versus Hinckley Grey. With the large Hinckley squad split into equal sides this match was always going to be interesting. Both Hinckley sides were determined to win the bragging rights, and did not go easy on their team mates. A ferociously contested game of Rugby played in excellent spirit resulted in a fair one all draw. Goodwin crashing over from a penalty 7 meters out for Hinckley Yellow, and Moore running the length of the pitch for Hinckley Grey.

The third and final game of the morning saw a tired Hinckley Yellow take on a refreshed Melton side. Although tired from their previous contest Hinckley gave 100% and did not let Melton into their half of the pitch. Hinckley’s put continuous pressure on Melton and were unlucky not to score a try. 0 – 0 at half time. Hinckley played uphill in the second half and struggled with tired legs. Melton cleared their line with a good kick and chased the ball down to score the only try of the game. Hinckley were unlucky not to equalise, which would have been a fair result, especially as Melton had to borrow a Hinckley player for the last 5 minutes of the match.

Another excellent morning Rugby from the entire Hinckley squad.
