Hinckley Under 12’s waited until the end of January to play their first match of 2016 in a Tri –Tournament with Market Harborough.

Hinckley split themselves in two, Hinckley Yellow and Hinckley Grey to play 3 well contested games of rugby on a cold and rainy Sunday morning.

Game one Hinckley Yellow against a small Market Harborough squad.
The six week break from competitive rugby did not affect Hinckley’s well drilled Rugby.
Excellent Tackling, Handling and rucking from the whole squad put Harborough under pressure from the start. Fantastic recycling from the Hinckley Forwards and good Hands from the backs for phase after phase meant Hinckley dominated the usually strong Harborough side. Harborough’s missed tackles and Hinckley’s excellent team work resulted in four first half tries from Barnes, L. Whittingham and A. Whittingham(2), although the whole team contributed and any of the team could have scored.
The Second half Hinckley continued to dominate, turning over many rucks and moving the ball out to both wings. Another four Tries from the whole team, finished by Barnes (2), Whittingham and a well-deserved score from debutant Miller. Final score Hinckley 8 – Harborough 0.

Game two Hinckley Yellow versus Hinckley Grey.
Hinckley v Hinckley is always one of the best games of the day and the spectators weren’t disappointed. Credit to the coaches for splitting the teams equally, as the game was extremely well contested and could have gone either way. The fresh legs of Hinckley Grey proved too much for the tired Hinckley yellow. Three first half tries from W. Hutton, Moore and Smith, were the only tries of the game. A fantastic game played in excellent spirit was a delight watch.

Game three Hinckley Grey versus Market Harborough.
The final game of the morning saw Hinckley Grey stay on the pitch to face a refreshed and determined Harborough team. Hinckley still full of confidence continued to put pressure on the improved Harbourgh side by keeping possession of the ball for numerous phases of play. Again excellent team work, tackling, rucking and ball handling from the whole team resulted in three tries finished off by W. Hutton, Goodwin and Moore. Harborough’s only score of the day came after Hinckley were penalised for coming in at the side of the ruck and they took a quick penalty down the blind side.
Hinckley continued to dominate the second half with an excellent whole team tackle count. Two second half tries from Miller and Drakeford put the game out of Harborough’s reach.

Hinckley’s whole squad all stepped up, and did not let the winter break affect them. Good look to the teams three Girls Morrisey , Fenlon and G.Hutton in their County trials this afternoon.
