Touring side Durham City travelled south to face a ferocious Hinckley under 12’s squad.

A confident Durham, fresh from numerous victories came to Leicester road for three strongly contested games of Rugby, on a warm and sunny Sunday morning.
Hinckley’s large squad was split into two teams to face the travelling Durham.

Game 1
Hinckley took control straight from the start by winning the toss and electing to play downhill. Hinckley pressured Durham from the start, with crunching tackles and excellent rucking causing the visitors to stay in their own half. Four unanswered tries by the whole team, with the ball moving from wing to wing and involving every player finished off by Whittingham. L, and Moore (3) gave Hinckley a comfortable lead going into the break.
Durham playing downhill in the second half found some speed and strength scoring two excellent try’s. Hinckley soon put the game out of reach with another try from Whittingham .L. Final score 5-2 to Hinckley.

Game 2
A slightly weaker Hinckley team took advantage of the tiring Visitors, defending the slope and making Durham work hard for their only try of the half. Hinckley quickly equalised through Piela, finding space on the blind side and running in an excellent solo try.
Hinckley took advantage of the slope in the second half and constantly pressurised the visitors, an equally contested half by two determined teams, both playing excellent rugby was a pleasure to watch. Hinckley finally grabbed the winner, when Goodwin broke through the defensive line. Final score 2-1 Hinckley.

Game 3
Hinckley started the final game with their strongest available players. A fantastic exhibition of mini rugby was displayed by the Hinckley team. Winning rucks and scrums, moving the ball through the backs and even throwing in some moves practiced on the training ground. The now tired and disheartened Durham could not compete with the strong Hinckley team. Four whole team try’s finished off by Whittingham .A (2) Whittingham .L and Goodwin put the game out of reach.
A complete forwards change in the second half continued to pressure Durham, and did not let them through their strong defense. Hinckley again defended the slope without conceding a try. Final score 4-0 Hinckley.

Another excellent morning of Rugby from the whole Hinckley squad gives the Black & Ambers a confidence boost going into festival season.
