....A Game of 1 half....
For those watching and those who received feedback from the game yesterday you will understand why I am going to concentrate on the second half of yesterday’s game and put the first half down to New Year blues.
At this point I will say that every player accepted the first half was nowhere near where we are as a group of players and also fully accepted some strong words of encouragement from the coaches at half time.
Whistle blows and second half is underway…
What a difference! Although we were chasing the game and the scoreboard didn’t suggest we were far behind we knew we had lots of work to do and we came out fighting. From the off there was more passion, effort and we worked harder to gain control of the game.
With space out wide and soft hands we started to play some nice rugby and pulled a score back early on through the backs out wide……much more like what we are about.
It was evident that Broadstreet were lazy in their defense and with several penalties going our way we worked well to pin them back with kicks to the corner. These were mixed up with quick tap and goes, quick thinking from one player 10m out brought us another score in the corner.
20 minutes remaining on the clock we were back within 1 score and Broadstreet knew they had a fight on their hands.
Whether the effort from the fight back was too much or we switched off we don’t know but Broadstreet gathered themselves well and started to push us hard again, breaking through for a couple of tries in reply which sealed them the game.

We all have to accept losing games no matter what level we play, but losing is more acceptable if we know we gave 100% and they were better than us……yesterday wasn’t one of those days….

We re-group and build again and look forward to a hard session on Thursday...
