Three matches were played against Nuneaton this week in which the U9s maintained their unbeaten run and kept 3 clean sheets.

Match 1 – Hinckley Lions 50-0 Nuneaton

The first match started with both teams trying to make their mark by dominating possession. Eventually though, it was Hubbard for Hinckley who opened the scoring when he took possession at the halfway line and sprinted the ball to the try line for 5 points. After the re-start Hinckley once more stole possession and a great link-up between Blaze and Colloby saw Colloby run the ball over the line for his first try. Hubbard added Hinckley’s third and Towers stole possession 3 yards from the Nuneaton line driving over his first try of the fixture. Greewcock completed the first half with Hinckley’s fifth to put the home team comfortably ahead. The second half opened and Towers collected the opening pass before running in his second try straight from the halfway line. Grewcock completed his brace too, weaving through 3 players narrowly avoiding touch to score. Thomas was determined not to be left out and with two fantastic driving efforts managed two tries of his own before Catt stole the ball from Nuneaton hands to run his first try right in the corner of the pitch.

Match 2 – Hinckley Tigers 15-0 Nuneaton

The second match proved to be a tighter affair for Hinckley Tigers. Possession was evenly balanced for much of the first half with both teams defending magnificently. Hinckley broke the deadlock however with a try from Smith going into the half time break. Having established the edge over the visitors, Hinckley were hungry for more, and Inman opened the scoring in the second half, followed by a great effort from Perkins who completed the score with Hinckley’s third.

Match 3 – Hinckley Lions 45-0 Nuneaton

The third match began with a fantastic opening try from Hubbard who evaded 3 or 4 approaching Nuneaton players to score the first. Following two missed opportunities by Hinckley, Nuneaton were eventually undone again, with an excellent combination of passes between Grewcock and Inman, with Grewcock crossing the line for Hinckley’s second. Halka scored Hinckley’s third with a neat switch of possession running over the line to plant the ball near the left corner. Hubbard completed the firat half with his second. The game restarted with Sansome taking the ball through the Nuneaton defensive line straight from the starting whistle leaving the opposition standing for his first try. The second try of the half came from a scrum on the halfway line with scrum half, Davis taking possession and sprinting half of the pitch to score Hinckley’s 6th try. Sansome then dominated proceedings with 3 more tries to complete another clean sheet for the home team.

The U9s remain undefeated this season in all matches. A fantastic effort from this developing squad of players.
