U/14's Vs Banbury RFC

Hinckley 32-26 Banbury

Hinckley hosted a new opposition this week in Banbury Rfc ,
Feedback was that Banbury had around 25 players of mixed ability , so we decided to play everyone available in 3 x 25 mins sessions.
The first third saw Hinckley defending for a majority of the play , a large Banbury pack keeping the play tight making the hard yards around the breakdown.
Some really good defensive play kept Banbury away from the white wash for the first 10 minutes , before Hinckley conceded, conversion slotted over making it 0-7.
Straight from the off Hinckley gained momentum, linking forwards and backs play , no points gained at this point but good confidence for the team.
The next 10 minutes saw hinckley defending around the breakdown again to the larger opposition which resulted in conceeding another 12 points , the first third ended 0-19
With 6 changes in the forwards and 5 in the backs , Hinckley came out the blocks from ko , changing momentum back to Hinckley, some great phases of play between the forwards opened up space for the pacey backs to finish off their hard graft which saw Hinckley score 4 unanswered tries and a conversion to make the scores Hinckley 22-19.
Banbury asked for just 10 mins play in the final third due to a few injuries and tiredness.
Straight from ko Hinckley caught on thier own 10m line and ran through for a score , followed by another 2 mins later.
With the last play called, Banbury rallied to run in a try out wide and bring the score to Hinckley 32-26 Banbury.
Today showed that we have great strength in depth with all lads playing for each other.
Onto next week with a semi final county cup against Harborough.
