Hinckley Rugby Club Community Programme - a week of smiles – W/C 22/09/25

Community Impact - we worked with over 500 people ranging from ages 8 to 80. Plenty of rugby and plenty of smiles...

This week has been another fantastic one for the Hinckley Rugby Club Community Programme, with plenty of rugby – and plenty of smiles – across all our sessions!

Monday
We "kicked off" the week with over 20 people attending the morning Walking Rugby session. The session was full of energy and laughter, and everyone enjoyed a well-deserved cuppa and cake afterwards at the Everyday Living Café.

Tuesday
Tuesday morning saw an excellent Mixed Ability Cricket session with the enthusiastic young people from Everyday Living. Their positivity and teamwork really set the tone for the rest of the week.

Wednesday
We delivered another great RUGBY4ALL session at Dorothy Goodman School, giving pupils a chance to enjoy the game and develop their confidence. In the afternoon, we ran a brilliant Girls’ Rugby session at The Hinckley School, with lots of skill development and new players giving rugby a go.

Thursday
Thursday was another action-packed day! Our team delivered T1 Rugby sessions at Richmond Primary School, introducing Year 4 and Year 5 pupils to the game. There was some fantastic talent on display – a great sign for the future of rugby in the area.

In the evening, we rounded off the day with our regular Walking Rugby session, followed by a chance to socialise over something a little stronger in the Pitches Bar.

Friday
We closed the week on a high with a Girls’ Rugby Festival hosted in partnership with the Hinckley & Bosworth School Sports Partnership. Over 200 girls from a range of local primary and secondary schools took part – an incredible turnout! It was the perfect warm-up for the Women’s World Cup Final the following day, and we hope it has inspired a new generation of girls to get involved in rugby.

Community Impact
Across all our sessions this week, we worked with over 500 people ranging from ages 8 to 80. This shows just how powerful sport can be in bringing our community together – breaking down barriers, inspiring the next generation, and keeping people active and connected no matter their age or ability.

It was a brilliant week of rugby, physical activity, community spirit, and development for players of all ages and abilities. A huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported the programme – we can’t wait to see you all again next week!
