For the past two years, we’ve been running Rugby4All sessions with the fantastic young people from Dorothy Goodman Middle Site and Dorothy Goodman Sixth Form. The programme gives the students a chance to experience rugby and the core values that come with it, teamwork, respect, discipline, sportsmanship, and enjoyment.
Each week, the group takes to the pitch with great enthusiasm, learning new skills, developing confidence, and working together as a team. The sessions focus on the basics of the game while helping the players understand what rugby is really about, supporting each other, giving your best effort, and taking pride in being part of something bigger than yourself.
It’s been brilliant to see how much the group has grown over time. Many of the young people have developed real confidence in their ability, both in rugby and in everyday life. Even better, some now come down to watch the Hinckley 1st XV on Saturdays, showing their growing connection to the club and to the sport itself.
Starting in November, the group will be taking part in monthly fixtures against the Hinckley Hares walking rugby team, giving them the chance to put their skills into action and enjoy the friendly competition that rugby brings.
A big thank you goes out to everyone involved, the coaches, the teachers from Dorothy Goodman, and most of all the young people who turn up every week ready to learn, have fun, and give it their all.
We’re proud to see how Rugby4All continues to make a real difference, helping young people experience rugby, its values, and the sense of community that comes with it.
