Despite going down to defeat against their higher level opponents, Hinckley learnt alot about themselves and what area still need some fine tuning before the beginning of the league programme in a couple of weeks.
Hinckley scored first with a Mark Lord penalty, but within 20 minutes of that where 21 - 3 down with the Lions game being run by fly-half Will Maisey, who had the previous week been part of the Nottingham side who beat Leicester Tigers. He scored one try himself, and his accuracy with the boot put the visitors in position for two others, converting all 3.
Hinckley's mindset into half time then turned from pre-season game to league fixture, ensuring they worked their way back into the game, and they did so successfully, with 2 tries in 3 minutes, one from David Peck and an excellent invididual effort from Issac Norton. Lord converted one of them.
In the second half Lions always remained a comfortable distance in front scoring 3 more tries, with Tom Hilyer replying with a dart from short range for Hinckley.
A lot was learnt, as Hinckley move onto the final pre-season fixture Vs Syston
