HInckley's pre-season programme concluded with 36 - 10 victory over Syston, who where last year relegated to Midlands 1.
In the first half Hinckley went 5 - 0 up within 10 minutes following a try from Ben Ashfield, with Syston missing a penalty before kicking a drop goal. Hinckley's attacking structures looked in good shape, however on a number of occasions the final pass went to ground or player's ended up making poor decisions, meaning they couldn't add to the scoreline in the half.
This issue was made to seem worth when the visitors scored just before half time with a well taken try going through a number of pairs of hands. The score was converted, and the visitors had a 5 point lead at the change around.
In the second half however the final Hinckley passes started going to hand and they where in complete control, scoring 31 unanswered points giving their visitors little opportunity to add any further points.
Ashfield scored his second try after an excellent break from Jon Roux, converted by Joe Glover, and a few minutes later Matthew Fearn galloped through a hole to score, leaving the score at 17 - 10.
Sam Greasley then finished off a well executed team move for his first try since his return to the club, and before the end Liam Warren scored his first try for Hinckley and Sam Massarella also was rewarded with a try.
Next week the league problem begins, with an away fixture at promoted Peterborough Lions.
