Hinckley’s pre-season continued on Saturday with a home victory over Tonbridge Juddians, recently promoted to National 2 South.
On a pleasant day at Leicester Road, both sides competed well in a game more like a league game than a traditional friendly which was certainly a better preparation fixture for both sides than a traditional pre-season friendly.
Hinckley struck first with a try from Mitch Lamb, playing his first game for over 2 years in the 12 jersey, finishing off a following move on the left hand side. Conor Buillivant hit the post with the conversion.
The visitors hit back with a penalty and converted try, before Gaz Clarke finished powerfully from short range after his own line break with some excellent set up work from Oscar Harper. The conversion was added by Buillivant.
The second half saw a number of changes from Hinckley including the introduction of last years player of the year Ben Marshall, with the only score being a well finished try from debutant hooker Jack Dickinson, burrowing over through a gap in the ruck.
Next up Hinckley face Broadstreet on Thursday night.
