2 late pens from Wilson seal win

An exciting game at Broadstreet to end pre-season was settled in the end by just one penalty from centre Joe Wilson

After just 90 seconds after a strong defensive set Callum dacey intercepted a long pass and ran 70 metres to score under the posts. Joe Wilson added the conversion. Broadstreet got on the board with a pen a couple of minutes later. They home side then took the lead with a try from a driving maul on 15 minutes.

Some excellent attacking shapes on 19 minutes then saw a break from Mitch Lamb, with some excellent work from the forwards - two phases later Callum Rowe squeezed over, with Wilson adding the conversion for a 14-8 lead

A yellow card for Broadstreet on their own line then gave Hinckley an upper hand up front, and although the line out drive was halted, the ball went wide for a try to Buillivant. The score was back to 19-15 when Broadstreet earns a penalty try at the scrum. Then on the stroke of half time, a missed lineout was intercepted and one pass put Broadstreet in. The conversion went over and the home side lead 19-22.

Early in the second half it was Broadstreet who had the field position but a turnover from turner was kicked away by Weddle, Dacey gathered on the bounce and the ball went wide to Smith who drew two to put in Buillivant for a second. Wilson converted for a 26-22 lead.

A second maul drive from the home side gave Broadstreet their 4th try on 50 minutes, and the conversion made it 26-29, the game then hit a stalemate until a Wilson pen with 5 to go to take it 29-29 before Wilson kicked a penalty to win it with 1 to play.

The league starts next Saturday home to Blaydon.
