6 tries including for debutant Murray Davidson

Hinckley concluded their pre-season programme with another high scoring game, this time at Old Albanians.

There were a number of debutants once again for Hinckley - Murray Davidson and Keifer Laxton both started in the pack whilst Louis Haley and Billy Pasco, who are dual registered with Northampton Saints started at 10 and 12.

Hinckley regained the kick off - something which has been a big work on over the summer and kept the ball all the way through to the first try of the game with Davidson showing great skills to set up George Patten who has signed for the club following being on loan from Northampton last year to finish from 10 metres out.

Old As then had a sustained period of pressure which Hinckley looked like they had manage to weather with an excellent turnover from Davidson looking like it had ended the attack but when the ball was slapped from his hand it feel loose for the home side to score.

OAs took the lead soon after with a break out down the left hand side but a simple lineout play then created an opportunity for Matt Guilfoyle to equalise things up at 10 all.

Hinckley then struck twice before the break - first Oli Bee charged on the ball at pace to finish powerfully from short range and then Callum Dacey scored one his trademark powerful scored from the 10 metre line, handing off 3 players on his way to the try line. None of the tries were converted for either team through the half leaving it 20-10 at the break.

Hinckley made no changes at the break whilst OAs made a number working with a much bigger squad than Hinckley elected to take to Hertfordshire and the subs made an impact scoring a converted try straight after the break. However on 51 minutes and beautifully executed maul from Hinckley gave a try to Davidson.

OAs then got a stroke of luck being awarded a penalty try for a deliberate knock down when it didn’t seem as if any contact had been made by the Hinckley player which also say Matt Guilfoyle send to the sin bin and OAs took advantage of this by scoring again soon after taking the score to 31-25.

Hinckley then unloaded their bench and Jack Hewitt quickly entered up over the line after a cross field kick from Haley into the very big in goal areas, however one more late try for OAs combined with a yellow card for Jack Ramshaw gave the victory to the home side.

Another hugely positive and important run out before the important business of the league starts on Saturday at home to Luctonians
