Hinckley and Bournville played out a compelling game to end the season which secured the hosts their joint ever best finish in the National Leagues.
A fantastic break down the right hand side from a penalty advantage at the scrum gave Hinckley there opening score after 8 minutes - Sam Everett was held up just short but Charlie Hurst showed a poachers instinct to finish well in the right hand corner. Joe Wilson converted.
Bournville then managed to control a period of the game, helped by a number of Hinckley penalties and that lead to two quick tries - the first one from Max Craven followed by replacement Weaver, with Craven converting both for a 14 – 7 away lead.
On the stroke of half time Ben Pointon squeezed over from a left hand side scrum and Hinckley took that momentum into the second half when, playing down the high a beautifully judged cross field kick from Wilson was taken by Sam Everett who finished superbly well.

The end to end nature of the game continued however and Bournville quickly retook the lead with a second try from Weaver who had shown great strength since entering the team from the bench. Craven again converted.
Hinckley then however took control off the game with two short range tries - the first of them a powerful finish from James Moreton, and the second an expertly finished score from Dale Bowyer with both converted by Wilson.
From a goal line drop out Wilson then expertly hammered over a drop goal to give Hinckley a 13 point cushion, although the visitors kept the game going till the end with a late try from x again converted by Craven meant they had one last shot at the win, although Hinckley had the chance of the final points, but Wilson pushed his penalty wide.
