4 ahead with 4 to go after first ever win at Old Hales

Hinckley's lead at the top of the table is 4 points with 4 games to go, having picked up a bonus point win at third place Old Hales, in a game re-arranged from last weekend.

With the re-arrangement, Hinckley were forced into a number of changes from the team picked for last week - in the forwards Luke Coltman and Mark Deaville were both at Twickenham meaning and Matty Walker was injured, being replaced by Liam Warren, Tom Sanderson and Ben Avent respectively. In the backs Tom Hilyer was unavailable due to work and was replaced with Sam Driver, whilst Ryan Oakes also returned to the squad on the bench.

The game started disastrous for the visitors, conceding after just 90 seconds however after that Hinckley were in complete control in the first half, scoring 24 unanswered points delivering some of their best attacking rugby of the season, with the only negative being Hinckley didn't score more when they had the chances.

The first try came from Callum Dacey after 10 minutes, after the forwards had been awarded consecutive penalties at the maul, and then 10 minutes later, Josh Smith picked up a loose ball and took full advantage of a gap in the defence to go around the full back with ease and score underneath the posts. The third try wasn't too far behind, when Joe Glover went in unopposed underneath the posts. Glover also had a 100% day of the tee, converting all 4 tries, and also kicking a penalty with 5 minutes to go in the half.

Unfortunately, Avent was sinbinned just before half time, with the resulting penalty being kicked for a 24 - 8 half time score, and when Tom Morris was also sent off for 10 minutes just after the break, Hinckley faced 7 minutes with 13 men. Their was an inevitability that Old Hales would score during the period, and they did get a converted score, however Hinckley managed to hold out on their line for a number of minutes, including almost pushing the home side off the ball with 6 men.

Once both players returned, it wasn't long until Ben Marshall and one of the Old Hales second rows were dispatched for 10 minutes after some off the ball handbags, but it was Hinckley who managed to take advantage of it, with an excellent Avent turnover being moved wide to Dacey who scored his second try of the day securing the bonus point.

Old Hales went onto manage a consolation try with the final play, which was probably deserved for their endeavours, however the visitors were good value for their victory.

Next week, Hinckley host Old Northamptonians with a 3pm kick off
