Hinckley travelled to Tynedale for round 10 of the season - a third of the way through. The wasps trio of Ehizode, Eastgate and Umaga were unavailable having played in the Anglo-Welsh cup on Friday, whilst Ben Avent was rested. Into the squad in their place came Piotr Wisniewski (on debut) Alex Branson, Callum Rowe (first league start) and Josh Smith. Rhodri Tanner also got a first start at hooker.

Playing with the wind in the first half Hinckley lost Tanner to injury inside 3 minutes, before taking the lead through a Joe Glover penalty. The conditions allowed the visitors to dominate possession but some good interplay in the midfield by the home side gave them a 5-3 lead just before the half way mark in the half.

For the next 20 minutes however Hinckley were dominant scoring 3 tries. The first came after a poor kick to touch against the wind lead to a scrum 5 metres out, resulting in a penalty try. Next a well organised line out drive gave a score to man of the match Steve Harvey, and with the last play of the half Alex Salt scored from the base of a scrum. 2 of the 3 tries were converted by Glover.

With the wind now against them in the second half Hinckley knew they would have a battle with kicking not really an option, and throughout the half they defending resolutely, although it must be said that Tynedales basic skills were at times not at the level they would hope for. The home sides only score of the half came with 3 minutes to do, whilst Hinckley had to deal with yellow cards to Alex Crocker, Dave Peck and Harvey in the last 20 minutes.

Hinckley have now won 3 in a row, and move up to 12th on 18 points. Next week they host South Leicester, kicking off at 3pm
