Hinckleys unbeaten run came to an end at Stourbridge on Saturday, however the first losing bonus point of the season was achieved and the performance was a big step up from early season performances against top 6 side.

Hinckley started brightly with a number of early 22 entries and some strong work at the mail. This paid off, with a try on 8 minutes to captain Alex Salt. Conor Buillivant added the conversion.

Hinckley made an error from the kick off however, and despite some strong defensive work for a number of phases, the home side went over for a converted try off their own.

The rest of the first half was relatively even, with both teams having chances, however the lead went to Stourbridge, with a penalty close to the end of the half.

The home side established some day light not long after the break with an unconverted try, and from that point both sides had good opportunities to score, but made errors close to the line which meant no more tries were scored.

With 15 minutes to go Joe Glover converted a simple penalty to bring Hinckley back into bonus point range, however that was the end of the scoring. The home side did have a chance to take the point away with a kick in the dying moments, after Scott Hamilton had been yellow carded for a deliberate knock down, however pushed it wide.

Both sides will claim they had chances to more points - from a Hinckley perspective, not a game the side should have one, but more which could have been won, and a useful point at a very difficult place to travel too.
