Hinckley finally delivered a win against one of the top 5 sides on Saturday, with a last minute score from Glen Murray meaning Hinckley walked away with all 5 points.
After a December where 3 of the top 5 sides were pushed hard by Hinckley, this was a well deserved win and sets a platform which the squad can now try and push from.
Both Ewan Bartlett and Callum Dacey made their 50th appearances, whilst Mark Lord returned to the 10 shirt for the first time since the win over South Leicester in November.
Hinckley started brightly and scored a try after just 5 minutes with captain Alex Salt over for his 7th of the season, converted by Joe Glover.
Sedgley Park then had a sustained period of pressure, with a lot of pressure being caused by Hinckley in-discipline in the midfield, however the home side turned down a couple of kicks and go and went for the corner, but were unable to execute well enough to get over the line.
When the visitors got an opportunity after this pressure, they took it. Under penalty advantage, the backs made some high risk passes which came off, with Mitch Lamb finishing excellently in the right hand corner despite the attentions of two home defenders. Glover couldn't add the conversion, but he did see a yellow card on the stroke of half time for a deliberate knock on.
Down a man, Sedgley Park then had their best period of the game at the start of the second half, scoring their only try of the game after 43 minutes, and for the majority of the next 20 minutes they managed to control the territory, however it came to nothing, as the Hinckley defence held out.
The home side then saw the yellow card opening up an opportunity for Hinckley, and it was taken - with 11 minutes to go Steve Harvey went over from a lineout, with Joe Glover converting.
The away side then dominated territory well to run the clock down - a penalty shot at goal was missed by Mark Lord during this, however with the home side trying to run from everywhere to get a bonus point, Glen Murray hacked through a loose ball and scored Hinckleys bonus point try. Mark Lord converted with the final kick.
The result takes Hinckley to 8th, next week Chester visit Leicester Road.
