Hinckley returned to action on Saturday in a pretty forgettable fixture on a dreary day at Leicester Road, with pitch conditions heavy and the wind strong.
Luke Coltman went out of the team serving his ban for the red card vs Scunthorpe so Rhoddi Tanner started at hooker. Ben Avent returned to the back row as did Conor Buillivant and Callum Dacey to back 3.
Playing with the wind in the first half Buillivant had the first scoring chance with a long range penalty that hit the post. However soon after Tynedale got their only try of the game when some very poor midfield defence from the home side gave the visiting 12 a simple run in. The score was converted for a 7-0 lead.
Back came Hinckley who began to dominate field position and territory, which lead to a try from a juggling Alex Crocker on 20 minutes from the base of a scrum.
Hinckley then took the lead with 10 minutes to go in the half with a Buillivant penalty but try scoring chances where being missed which against the wind came back to bite the wide, especially when Tynedale took the lead with the last kick of the half with a penalty of their own.
Now playing into the wind Hinckley showed intent from the kick off and after 42 minutes scored one of the tries of the season from their own 22 - Steve Harvey put Alex salt into space who then gave Callum Dacey a 60 metre opportunity which he took handing off 2 defenders. Buillivant converted for a 15-10 lead.
As the half went on, although ball retention was good, opportunities were hard to come by from distance against a good defence and Tynedale across the half kicked 3 penalties from some unforced errors which ultimately rewarded them with the win.
On a bit positive however, we are now 24 points from the relegation placings with 6 games to go meaning we are nearly there - an excellent achievement in the first year in the league, and a win over next weeks opponents South Leicester finalising things.
