Hinckley travelled on Saturday to a Sheffield tigers side fighting the drop. It had been a disrupted week with low numbers at training for a variety of valid reasons and a number of changes.
Dylan Weddle came into the side for his first 1st Xv game of the season at scrum half whilst George Marsden, who has made a number of bench appearances also was awarded a start. Up front Mark Deaville also came into the side in the second row. On the bench Huw Marsden, brother of George made his first squad appearance since before Xmas whilst Mark Lord came over half way through the first half having started for the 2s in their game against Sheffield which was a 2.30 kick off.
Hinckley got the first points of the game with a penalty from Joe Wilson on 4 minutes. However a loose kick soon after was well run back by the home backs to score for a 7-3 lead.
On 23 minutes Hinckley got the lead back however, a loose kick was dealt with by Mitch Lamb who stepped one player and then moved the ball to Josh Smith who ran in the score. Wilson added the conversion and 10-7 was how the score sat at half time.
Sheffield, now play with the wind equalised the game soon after half time with a penalty, but on 50 minutes, having only been on the field for a couple of minutes, Luke Coltman went over at the back of a maul converted by Wilson.
From the kick off Sheffield added a penalty and then soon after scored down the right hand side for a 20-17. On 65 minutes they then close to secured the win with a converted score:
On the whistle Hinckley secured a losing bonus point when Joe Wilson score a deserved try down the left hand side.
Next week Hinckley will be hosting Stourbridge
