Hinckley were outplayed on Saturday by an impressive Leicester Lions side, going down 7 tries to 2.
Hinckley made 3 changes to the starting team from Stourbridge - David Peck and George Cox returned to the pack, whilst Mitch Culpin returned in the 13 shirt. Alex Branson also returned to the bench having recovered from concussion.
Hinckley were well off the pace throughout the first half, with a number of missed tackles and handling errors. However at the same time the attacking display from Lions was probably the best Hinckley have faced this season. An early penalty from Jon Boden was then followed up with 4 tries before half time, with Boden also adding another penalty on the stroke of half time.
When Hinckley did get their attacking game going they looked dangerous, with a try coming in the 38th minute try from Alex Crocker after an excellent break from George Cox. Joe Wilson converted leave the half time score at 32-7.
Alex Salt scored from a lineout drive soon after half time but with the injury count stacking up, including a broken arm to Luke Coltman and Josh Smith, Mitch Culpin and Ben Avent also having to leave the field, Hinckley continued to battle as always. Lions scored three more in the half to run out very well deserved 49-12 winners.
Next week sees the final game of the season, with Hinckley hosting Harrogate, who need a win to secure their place in the league for next year, having dropped into the the relegation positions today. Kick off is 3pm
