Guernsey took the spoils at Leicester Road on a Saturday with a smash and grab win where Hinckley dominated most areas of the game, but not the scoreboard at the end.

The home side got the first score after 6 minutes when a smart run from Ben Pointon got him over the line. This was followed up soon after with another strong period of pressure which resulted in a Joe Wilson penalty for an 8-0 lead.

Guernsey then had a deserved period of pressure which Hinckley managed to defend well however the try once again came from a loose pass which saw Matt Armstrong run in unopposed.

Hinckley responded superbly however, immediately going on the attack, with a following move finished by AJ Johnson, meaning that Hinckley went in 13 – 7 up.

The second half started slowly, and the tension started to build throughout the half with Hinckley unable to stretch away but Guernsey struggling to make inroads, but eventually it was the visitors who scored first through Horrocks.

The missed conversion meant Hinckley still held the lead which was extended with a second Wilson penalty with 15 minutes to go, but when the visitors took the lead for the first time with Matt Fearn in the bin for taking a man out in the air, Guernsey suddenly had the ascendancy.

Hinckley then huffed and puffed and finished the game just a couple of metres out from the visitors line, but in the end the 4 points went back to the Channel Islands
