Salt (2), Lamb (2), Deaville, Coltman, Avent and Weddle with the tries

Hinckley scored 50 points and 8 tries for the second week in a row, dispatching Lichfield at Leicester Road on Saturday.

One of Hinckley's five defeats so far this campaign came away to Lichfield earlier in the season, a result the squad were keen to put right, and a well balanced performance did that comprehensively.

Playing against a very strong wind in the first half, careful management and decision making ensured Hinckley created opportunities, with the first try coming after 5 minutes, when Mark Deaville scored his first try for Hinckley from the lineout, with the Lichfield defence strangely absent. Mark Lord added the first of his six conversions.

Soon after, Lichfield themselves scored a well constructed lineout try with the conversion missed, but Hinckley then scored two tries in quick succession - the first through Luke Coltman, his 3rd in 4 games and the second from Ben Avent with one of them converted by Lord for a 19 - 5 lead half way through the half.

The bonus point was then secured through some smart thinking through a tap and go from Dylan Weddle, and then a few minutes before half time, turnover ball ended up in the hands of Mitch Lamb who showed some great footwork to score in the score - his first for the club on his fourth appearance. Lord converted both scores.

On the stroke of half time Lichfield scored their second, a very well taken try from deep to leave the half time score 33 - 10.

Despite a very substantial lead, Hinckley knew the strong wind combined with Lichfield's threats from all over the field meant the game wasn't over. However, despite Dave Weston being sin binned within 15 seconds of the kick off for persistent infringement, the game was in the bag 8 minutes into the half, with two more tries added. The first is a candidate for try of the season - Sam Greasley broke out of defence and was fantastic hands from Josh Smith allowed Tom Morris to get in behind. The ball was then recycled to Lamb who stepped in and went under the posts for his second with Lord's conversion.

Just a couple of minutes later Hinckley should have scored again when Alex Norris was held up from another break out, however from the resulting scrum Alex Salt went over. Salt added a second with 20 minutes to play, with Lord converting one of them.

In the final twenty minutes both Salt and Morris were sinbinned and with a number of personal and positional changes to give players much needed game time/rest and variation, the game broke up a bit with Lichfield taking the opportunity to score twice, taking a try bonus point way - something which was well deserved for their part in a very entertaining game.

No game next week, with Hinckley's next fixture away to Longton on the 21st.
