Hard but purposeful day at the office!

You cannot knock the Staghounds desire to not turn down and continue to play hard fixtures on gap weeks to keep developing a young 2nd XV squad. With more experienced players not available on the day due too County Cup duties, 11 players out of the 16 taken were all in the same Colt side not too long ago.

Unfortunately for the Staghounds they came off second best too a well drilled and experienced Rugby Lions 1st XV. Missed tackles were the order of the day in the first half allowing an easy platform for the Lions to play off ending in 25-0 at half time to the Lions.

After a quick chat and sorting out some minor issues the second half started much better from the Staghounds and there was some good rugby played in the Lions half. The Lions defence managed to stay strong and kept out everything the Staghounds had to throw at them. When the Lions did get their hands on the ball the Staghounds defence had tightened up and you could see the frustration on the Lions players faces as it was not going to be as easy as the first half.

It was a much better performance in the second half with lots of positives to be taken out of the game. Only 5 more points were scored by the Lions in the second half, testament to the Hinckley effort. We look forward to the return friendly in the New Year.
