HRFC U9’s took on Coalville as the hurricane force storm approached (according to the weatherman anyway!) and albeit a little windy & cold the sun was actually shining and the whirlwinds that where forecast only took place on the pitch.

HRFC U9’s took on Coalville as the hurricane force storm approached (according to the weatherman anyway!) and albeit a little windy & cold the sun was actually shining and the whirlwinds that where forecast only took place on the pitch.
Game 1 caught the Coalville side napping with Warland running in a try from the halfway line. Coalville’s only attack in the first half was stopped with a great holding tackle from Morgan. We went in at the half 4 nil up with the other 3 trys coming from Handford (2) and Thomas. The second half saw more of the same from the HRFC U9’s with a great off loads from Carey, fantastic footwork from Walton, diving tackles taking players into touch from Baron which lead to a further 5 trys resulting in a 9 nil victory.
The second game of the morning and the sun was still shining. Coalville had had a stern talking to but the well drilled HRFC team showed direct running by Thomas and hard tackles from Kew would keep the Coalville team at bay and lead the first half 3 nil. The second half saw an amazing ¾ length pitch run from Wynne to score his first try of the day, followed by more crunching tackles and a try from Handford. Coalville though showed determination and came through with a late try ending the game 5-1.
The third and final game of the morning saw a wounded Coalville in need of some great HRFC sportsmanship in which Walton donned a blue vest and lined up with the Coalville team. It was a tightest game of the morning but the fast feet of Handford saw him score first, quickly followed by Baron. Coalville came back at us, with a great break to score. A tackle into touch saw us win a turnover ball to score again before the half, halftime 3-1. Coalville came out fighting in the second half and there new signing Walton scored first. HRFC raised their game again and a storming run and try from Warland and a direct smashing run through the Coalville defence saw Thomas seal a 6-2 win.
Great results today for the whole team today, Well Done boys.
