First away game

Away game again for Hinckley Under 14’s, this time against Coalville. A little different with the weather this week, Patchy clouds with a mild wind, making it feel more like rugby weather. The ground a little softer due to the rain in the week, but still not as soft enough. After a delay kicking off the boys lost the rock, paper, scissors so were on the defence from the word go, however after a little competition Hinckley won the ball with some great rucking by Handford and ball skills of the line Healey went on to score the first try of the game: conversion missed. Coalville restarted and kicked it straight to Kennerson, who caught it neatly started to run then passed to Handford who finished the run off, supported by Gordon who wasn’t needed, to score the try; conversion missed. The game went back and fourth with number of break downs lost and won by Hinckley, when a scrum came Hinckley’s way Handford picked the ball up, passes to Healey then To Kennerson who ran in for the try, some excellent team support. Unfortunately, Hinckley let their guard down and Coalville took advantage running in a try and getting the conversion. After a another break down and a scrum to Hinckley, Handford took his chance again and picked the ball up from the base of the scrum and ran in his 2nd try of the game; conversion missed. Coalville saw some gaps in the defensive line and chanced it and ran in 2 more tries before half time, they didn’t manage to convert them, Went in at half time Coalville 17 Hinckley 20.

The second half saw Bosworth take the starting kick; after some advancing play Hinckley won a line out in Coalville’s 5 meter area, Walton took the ball through the line being supported by Cooling and Marston, to score. Hinckley continued to attack with some good ball handling skills and Cooling saw the line dropped his should and ran in a try; Bosworth Converted. The defence line was then tested before the ball went out for a Hinckley Line out, Kew threw the line out ball again, Walton received it and made a clean pass to Bosworth, who ran slightly diagonal but luckily it paid off and he scored. Conversion missed. Final whistle blow, making the final score Coalville 17 - 37 Hinckley.
