First Fixture

A four game opener saw few tries, but not for lack of trying!
Match 1 saw Dunne scoring the first and only try early on. Furious tagging by Simmons and Dunne led to plenty of turnover balls in Hinckley’s favour. Doyle, Causon, Middleton and Kime also made significant tags.
Match 2 was livelier with Stockton and Cooper scoring, with Palmer tagging well. Half time the result flattered Bosworth at 3-4. In the second half a slick Bosworth defense turned over a number of Hinckley attempts, but couldn’t keep out a further 5 tries from Stockton, Cooper and Hicks, to steal an 8-7 win for Hinckley.
Match 3 saw a number of debut players for Hinckley. Fisher, Stokes and Bennett all opened their tagging count in the first half. Bosworth answered firmly in reply with 4 tries. At the end of the half Bennett went off injured – no permanent damage done, 4-0 to Bosworth at half time. Doyle fed in two tries and half a dozen tags in the second half. A debut try from Fisher led to a final score line of 3-6, which reflected a tough fixture.
Match 4 opened with 5 solo tries from Simmons for Hinckley. Bosworth could only reply with two tries. Support play from Moore, Palmer, Causon, Cooper and Dunne saw them taking multiple tags each. The tag rate continued in the second half with a single debut try from Middleton. Stockton and Curless added to their tag counts to make an entertaining 6-3 score line to Hinckley.

I would like to just add today’s play was impressive for our first fixture with every player contributing to some fantastic Rugby. Our Defense shone through as the new 6 Tags rule for turnover provided us with the opportunity to attack and score tries.
