Coldville

A warm welcome but a chilly start for our two squads at Coalville today.

Squad 1, Fisher, Simmons, Palmer, Cooper, Marston, Middleton.

Squad one lined up for an early start and began a swift demolition of the opening Coalville side. Fisher (1), Simmons (1) and Palmer (2) took tries to only one in reply. Hinckley took a 7-tag turnover, in no small part down to a shock tagging success from Middleton (5 tags). Second half saw a different Coalville, coming out looking to run at Hinckley more. Shock over and they started to crank up the pressure. Hinckley responded by taking huge levels of tags - Fisher (5), Simmons (8), Palmer (5), Cooper (5), Middleton (2). Simmons, Cooper and Middleton all added a try each, to only two more in reply from Coalville. Final score 7-3 to Hinckley.

Second match for squad one was a closer affair as Coalville knew now what to expect and their two outstanding debut players had begun to run freely at "full tilt"! Simmons, Cooper and Palmer all took a try each, whilst Simmons and Palmer took the majority of the first half tags. 3-2 at half time. Second half and Cooper took most tags (6) ably helped by Palmer (4) and Stockton (3). Coalville only managed to sneak in a further 2 tries to make a 6-4 final scoreline to Hinckley.

Squad 2, Causon, Farrell, Stokes, Hicks, Moore, Chase, Stockton, Kime.

First half saw a Hinckley partnership of Stockton and Causon run over 2 tries each, assisted by tagging from Hicks (3), Stokes (1), Moore (2), Kime (2) to leave the half-time scoreline an emphatic 4-0. Second half saw Hinckley pull away further with a further three tries from Causon, Stokes and Hicks. We werent sure of the final scoreline, but we were sure it was a Hinckley win!!!

Second match for squad two and Coalville wanted some kudos for their own home fixture. A strong Coalville side with their two debut quick runners, now fully warmed up were ready for us. Tagging for Hinckley had ground to a halt, with a free running Coalville scoring 4 tries to Moores 2, with only Causon (2) and Kime (2) taking tags. Hinckley listened to the coaches carefully during the half-time talk and managed to stem the flow. Kime and Hicks added their tries to match Coalvilles 2. Tags came from Causon (2) Moore (2) and Stokes (1) but the players were struggling to keep pace with the two Coalville star runners. Final Score 4-6 to Coalville.
