Change of fortunes!

Turn of fortunes!
Hinckley under 9’s faced some tough opposition this weekend when they faced Stamford, Towcester and Old Northamptonians (all teams we hadn’t played before)
In the first game Hinckley tackled strongly but were struggling to hold the opposition even with two on one, they were just out muscled. When Hinckley did have the ball they were given no space and were unable to move. They did well to allow them only 4 tries. 4-0 loss.
Game two; Hinckley played well again but as in the first match they were outsized by the Towcester players. Even our bigger lads didn’t have enough weight to hold a player for a tackle. The tackle rate was high but needing two players to hold the opposition opened up gaps. Despite this we manged to get to half time without conceding a try only for Towcester to score four in the second half as the players tired.
By the third game Hinckley still hadn’t scored. They came out hard and eventually we had a couple of good runs resulting in a 4 – 2 lead at half time. The second half proved more difficult and despite a further 2 tries Old Northamptonians came back with 4 of their own leaving the final score a 6 all draw.
Overall great play by everyone against stronger and bigger sides on the day.
Thanks to all the dads who took responsibility for team organisation today, Damo for reffing and everyone else for great support despite the losses.
