Hinckley under tens finished the Prima Cup festival with a resounding three tries to one win against a solid Ashby side. Strong running and teamwork resulted in tries for Hicks, Simmons and Palmer, who was top scorer for Hinckley with four tries.
The first game of the festival ended in their only defeat to a disciplined and well-organised Moseley side. Despite the defeat Hinckley managed to defend with great determination and courage.
Hinckley's next opponents, Atherstone proved easier opposition as Hinckley ran out four tries to one winners, thanks to tries from Spalding, Middleton and two from Palmer. Local rivals, Nuneaton proved more difficult opposition and were two tries to nil up at half time. Hinckley fought back strongly in the second half and great team work led to a try by Cooper. In the final minutes Fisher went over in the corner after a determined individual run.
Hinckley were quickly back in action against a strong Litchfield side and they quickly went a try up through Palmer. Despite a constant battering of Litchfield's defence Hinckley failed to add to their early try and paid for this when in the dying seconds Litchfield agonisingly went over for an equaliser.
Even with the early defeat to Moseley this was a performance characterised by great teamwork, strong running and determined tackling. All players showed great resilience and tenacity.
