Landrover Cup

Always windy whenever we play at Oakham, flat an exposed to the elements, a former runway apparently! Can’t think why they had a change of use.
Group E, First game Boston and a good start, definite take off for the lads with 4 or 5 tries to get us going, winning fairly easily through a 10min straight game. 2nd game Ashby, a bit too close, the lads dropped their heads slightly but were narrowly beaten 2:1, could and even should have been a win. 3rd game Oakham and we were back to thinking how to go forward with a number of runs through the opposition. Lads came off from this one buzzing, winning with 2 clear tries.
So on to the afternoon with another 3 games via a waterfall tournament, to play like for like from team results.
First up Lutterworth, always been a close game for us but again we found the try line and scored using our fast runners in space, another win. Next up Wymondham, again a close game but our tackles had left us, we needed to reset, our second loss of the day.
Finally to the 6th and last game against Mellish, sounds like something from Blackadder, they certainly had a ringer playing for them, all 6ft of him. Nevertheless we just needed to get 1 or 2 tackles from each player and we would do alright. ...that’s what we got and the final game finished 2:2 a fitting result for the day. Won 3 Drew 1 Lost 2
Well done to all that played, I look forward to a training session Sunday to Home our skills for the rest of the season, the last 3 weeks have been BUSY but a good learning curve for us and lots of positive to build on.
