Melbourne away. A long drive to nice facilities, big players with too few on very hard ground but regardless, a match to play.
First 10-15 minutes the game looked quite equal but we hadn’t worked out how to run at them. It was a bit like ping pong however you could see our strength and depth we just needed to work out how to use space. Speed and passing the ball through hands was the key as Melbourne only had runners. Once the ball went through our hands to score a few tries, the pattern was set. I think we scored at least 9 to Melbourne’s 2 so a convincing win, not only did we turn up looking good we played great and finished strong ?.
The things we did well was running hard, passing to support and spreading the ball out wide. Most of the tries coming from 5-6 and more passes to team mates.
The only criticism was at times we watched too many rucks and one v one situations. Ball carrying one handed in contact still turns over the ball, which didn’t need to happen. But all things we can work on in training Wednesday and next Sunday!
