On the Cow patch

Kenilworth away on the pitch called "cowpatch"!
Game 5, our second away game this season and the first this season for two of our players. The match started with 3 quickly taken tries by Kenilworth, showing us they had a couple of lads with great pace and direct running. Whilst this set the score board climbing, we had to work out how to deal with them. It wasn't easy and the lads found it tough, but once we remembered to tackle legs we managed to put together a few phases, enough to claw one back from a catch and pass through to our wing. Despite this try our performance in the first half was lack luster and we had to find a way to play with a bit more spirit.
Following half time, the score stood at 24:5. The secret for this game was in our forwards, working harder as a team, lifting heads up and remembering the skills we have. The forwards began to put together a number of good pick ups from the back of ruck and mauls. This showed a few that we could make ground if we went for it. We stopped a series of attacks from Kenilworth out wide which in the first half would have been run in. Although Kenilworth did score again we were playing better and after a series of attacks we got another one back. Although the game was safe for Kenilworth we scored a third try, which was a good focus for us. As ever plenty to work on come Wednesday. Final score 43:17.
